The Journey of a Grandmaster: From Weakness to Strength

My name is B.S. Handa. Looking at me today, most people see a 4-time National Champion and a 6th Dan Black Belt. But my story started very differently.

As a young boy, I was not strong. In fact, I was very weak. I suffered from severe asthma and spent nearly 8 to 9 months of every year on a hospital bed, surviving on penicillin injections. I was the child others made fun of. I felt small, scared, and powerless.

But I chose not to stay that way.

53 Years of Learning

I started my journey into Martial Arts to save my own life. Over the last 53 years, I have mastered Taekwondo, Karate, Aikido, Judo, and more. I didn’t just learn how to hit; I learned how to heal my body and sharpen my mind.

I realized that Self Defense is not about how hard you can punch. It is about the “Instinct” to stay safe and the “Confidence” to stand tall.

The Mission: Project 1 Lakh

I have already trained over 100,000 students and seen them win 156 medals for our country. But my most important work is happening right now.

I have seen that in today’s world, people don’t have years to practice. They need safety now. That is why I created Project 1 Lakh. My mission is to give 100,000 Indians the “Handa Safety Instinct”—the simple, natural ability to spot danger and protect themselves without even thinking.

I was a weak child who found my power. Now, I am here to help you find yours.
